The thesis focuses on the redevelopment of the ASI industrial area in Marcianise and the design of an office building. The aim is to enhance green spaces and repurpose abandoned industrial structures for new urban use. A vacant lot, formerly home to the RAI Radio Antenna, was selected for the design of a modern office building inspired by coworking principles, with dynamic and flexible spaces. The structure, defined by a 20x20m grid, integrates non-work-related functions to create a more welcoming environment. The outdoor area is designed as a public park for the community.
Urban redevelopment is based on a series of existing but yet-to-be-implemented projects in the area, such as Andreas Kipar’s Regi Lagni redevelopment project and the Green Ring project. By revitalizing existing green spaces, integrating new ones, and creating a connection with the nearby residential area, the goal is to enhance the usability of these spaces, making them more accessible and livable. Attention is also given to industrial heritage buildings, such as the former Siemens and Olivetti plants, which are abandoned. A redevelopment plan is proposed for these structures to ensure their reuse and public accessibility. Within this industrial context, an unused lot has been identified. Until 2014, this site housed the RAI Radio Antenna. It has now been selected for the design of a new office building. The project was preceded by research and analysis of office architecture, examining the evolution of workspace design. Since 2008, coworking has become widespread in Italy, creating the need for spaces that adapt to this collective rather than individual work model. This shift has led to dynamic spaces, replacing the traditional static “office room.” Employees can now interact with colleagues from different sectors, while freelancers, independent professionals, and managers can work flexibly from these spaces. The building features an outer shell that "protects" the core structure. A key element is the 20x20m grid, which defines the structure and serves as a symbolic and distinctive feature on the roof. The interior includes spaces beyond just work areas, ensuring that employees do not perceive the workplace as restrictive but instead as a comfortable, home-like environment. The surrounding area is designed as a true community park.
