The center must be envisioned as an architectonic project aimed to create an artistic space for the planning, development and enjoyment of diverse events and programs in the circus arts.
Where everything connects. The project envisions diverse spaces that works as a whole. It intends to be a space that follow ideas from their creative process until its fruition. This process starts in “The Shops”, around a big top representing a central yard; there are a series of inquiry rooms, sketching, training and workshops where the ideas are developed to be taken to the “Rehearsal Rooms” where once created, the pieces are put together for the show and everything becomes a reality. They’re a place where stages are originated and artists get to know their limits before bringing them in to the final performance in “the Main Room”, a space where the magic really happens, a place where the result of all the planning steps is presented to the audience. “The Main Room”, a big hall with a capacity for 2000 people and a multipurpose structure designed to support any kind of performance. This space houses a 360-degree stage in an acoustic tent that complies with all the technical requirements for installing a complex system for lightning, audio, and video to enhance the spectator experience as never seen before. The concept is inspired in the rich Mexican art tradition of its greatest muralist. The building is designed to create an ideal atmosphere to inspire artist to make this art part of the country’s history again. An important and remarkable aspect of this project is that the building has offers no indication of its purpose. Rather than a capricious and pretentious circus- shaped construction, the design reinterprets the traditional big top, and at the same time, because of its simplicity and the modulation of the structure, it becomes a white canvas capable of adapting to any production, making it an unpredictable, attractive and unique building.
