Condominium Trnovski Pristan

Condominium TRNOVSKI PRISTAN is situated on the edge of the city centre. It is a two-floor apartment building with fifteen individualized apartments, common entrance lobby, interior winter garden and exterior summer atrium. Circumferential garden divides the building from other neighbouring free-standing single-apartment buildings. Leading to the house entrance is an entrance platform, which is reached by a short driveway from the road by the river. Its basic volume is agitated, clustered and non-monolithic, which allows for optimal illumination of all apartments and a connection of interior area with the exterior through greater greened terraces, consoled balconies and winter gardens. The clustering of the basic volume continues to the irregular rhythm of the balconies volume. The balconies extend far away from the building, towards the circumferential garden. The clustering reaches its peak by the composition of façade surfaces made of pixels of multi-coloured ceramic tiles, and overdimensioned black metal frames, which link great windows and balconies of orange wood.

Three and twodimensional clustering of the basic volume creates the richness of microambient and the diversity of sequence images of the condominium from the vicinity. Due to the width of the condominium volume and its enclosure within the neighbouring buildings, the condominium cannot be seen as a whole. We can only catch spatial sequences between the neighbouring buildings, which are actually many in number. This consequently awakes interest of what is going on in that yellowblack ceramic bright building with great windows. Who and how lives there? Is there a new way of life in that multiapartment building, is it much different from anywhere else in Ljubljana? What creates its living comfort?

The apartments have great open living areas. They create a feeling of belonging and identification with 'my house, my garden and my apartment'. In the wintertime I sit with my cohabitants on the winter garden sofas, and in the summer I meet them in the atrium in front of the winter garden. The appearance of the entrance façade surface and the glass entrance door limit the access to the platform. It is a real oasis in the heart of the Trnovo suburbs. It is a place to relax and to enjoy. Only a view from the upper floor puts the condominium within a wider context of the city: a view of the Ljubljana Castle, river Ljubljanica, skyscrapers, Ljubljana moor and the hill Krim in the distance.
