The project is derived from the sense of neighborhood and community. It is aimed to become a social gathering point of the district that develops an "age-integrated project.” Not limiting the project only with elderly, but also integrating public to the project and enhancing interaction between people with social activities, public spaces.
Topography is one of the most crucial design parameters which creates weak communication between the back and front side of the site and necessitates the creation of the terraces. Another important design parameters are the view of the sea and parallelism of the site towards southeast; thus, it is designed to be parallel and in accordance with the slope and the shape of the hill. To strengthen the concept of neighborhood and let social life be more involved with the project, it is decided to move the commercial part one level higher. To create more attractive and lively spaces, by some fractions and height differences on the front facade, it is aimed to open the elevated inner street and form public terrace and balconies. Two entrances to the inner street by stairs are located on the left and right edges. Also, public elevators are positioned on the front facade which provides access to the inner street. The roof of the commercial part has been turned into a garden of the living units to break the massive volumetry. Inspired by the increasing gradient from left to right on the back side, the building follows its shape and creates terraces for the common usage of the elderly. Apart from the services on the front facade, a multi-functional and a cinema hall, library, classrooms, ateliers, a wellness center with an indoor pool and several cafes take place in the program of the project. Besides, there is a guesthouse where the visitors and relatives of the inhabitants can stay. Living units are divided into three groups: assisted, partially supported and independent. Assisted living units are placed into the healthcare unit. Partially supported and independent living units differ only in terms of their size. A kitchenette, a living space, a bed, a comfortable bathroom and a balcony are provided for every unit, so that elderly can live independently. In addition, to increase their socialization, common spaces such as dining hall, game and TV room are located on each floor.
