The project is a response to the progressing problem of civilization-related mental disorders. The idea based on using neuroarchitecture for creation of a holistic space for mental regeneration and psychophysical prevention through therapeutic, workshop, relaxation and sports activities based on mindfulness techniques and contact with nature.
The project assumes the presentation of a space rich in conditioned stimuli with a simple and clear layout, shaped with the psychophysical comfort of patients and staff in mind with the use of neuroarchitecture elements. The challenge was to define, through analyzes and diagnostic surveys, architectural and spatial components with a positive impact on users, supporting the therapy process and defining the needs of both humans and the natural environment. The proposal is a facility whose main sectors are the spaces for stays and therapeutic classes, offering individual or group sessions, physiotherapy treatments and sports and relaxation programs based on mindfulness techniques, such as yoga or meditation. The idea behind the design is to blur the boundary between the building's body and the external environment through the use of glazing and systems of modular space shaping depending on the needs of users or climatic conditions. The resort is located in the center of the city in an area withdrawn from development and city noise. The facility was designed using the natural landshape and landscape values, bringing the area after mining industry back to life. The project provides for the minimization of the impact on the ecosystem in every phase of the building's life - from construction, through exploitation, to eventual demolition or relocation of the facility. A characteristic feature of the concept is the proposed construction solution that completely excludes the use of concrete, thus limiting the scope of earthworks, the amount of construction waste and the impact on the environment. The development of the site has been reduced to only the necessary elements of facility’s operation. In addition, the project envisages the use of natural materials that can be reprocessed in the future, recycled elements and the use of a number of energy-saving solutions.
