Çimtaş Administrative Office

Çimtaş Steel Production Mongate and Building Supplies Co. Ltd started production on 1979 in the Gemlik area of the province of Bursa in a plant with an indoor area measuring 41.000 m² and an open area of 150.000 m². This company manufactures steel pipes used in heavy industry, such as heavy steel constructions, steel bridges and wind towers. A decision was made to renew the existing twostory administration building to meet current needs. For his reason, the building was completely demolished and rebuilt as a four story building with a steel structure.

The new structure was designed in a long and narrow rectangular form and positioned parallel to the road, thus creating a contrast to the previous building. The purpose during the design process was to rebuild the space relationships without changing the operation of the factory. The North façade was designed transparent to allow light to reach every floor and a pool was created outside the building to reflect the industrial landscape, which is constantly changing with the movements of the overhead cranes. The South façade is designed to transform the natural landscape outside into framed views. As a result, every office employee is able to live with both the natural and the industrial landscape during the day.
