Located on riverfront in Kraków Downtown, in area of crucial cultural and historic heritage, near Wawel Castle, respects spirit of city. It “floats” above the ground. Interior spaces convey a Barbican walking scheme. Features kinetic facade hung to a steel structure. Tiles are moved by the wind and reveal snippets of building’s exterior life.
I chose to do this project on several of reasons. During my studies I became interested in relation between public spaces/greenery and structure/architecture as well as in perception of architecture. I incorporated my knowledge into my Bachelor Degree and pursue those topics further. Significant role in this research play riverfronts and rythm. Thats why I chose them as mian components of my Master Thesis. I am also a strong believer that architecture doesn't exist without sociological affiliates. The project was to design Centre of Middle East Culture, so it is connected with current situation across Europe. Immigrant issues are widely commented in media all over the world. I wanted to spark a debate between soon-to-be-architects and their tutors on how we are involved and what architecture can do in those circumstances. Lastly, designing in such visible context seemd very demanding. This needed unique approach, which I decided to take.
