The Center of Technology and Innovation in Kutaisi, Georgia is a hub for technological advancements, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the region. With state-of-the-art facilities and support services, it provides opportunities for startups and established businesses to collaborate and thrive in a dynamic ecosystem.
The center was conceptualized as a solution to several problems. Firstly, it would serve to activate the city and create additional work spaces. Secondly, given the recent construction of a prestigious university in Kutaisi, a surge of enthusiasm among young people to enroll in the city had been observed. The establishment of an innovation and technology center was a logical next step to create attractive environment for talented young people to initiate and complete projects. Situated in the Imereti region, the center boasts three primary functions: laboratories, educational and exhibition spaces. Moreover, the center bears a crucial responsibility for the city, to furnish a working environment that caters to individuals with diverse interests. The location proves advantageous as it necessitates the presence of both dynamic and passive areas of volume. The topography of the land favors such vertical or horizontal development, allowing the level (-1st) of the edifice to house the laboratories, effectively segregating them from the active portion. The entire center remains illuminated by natural sunlight, courtesy of the atrium, ensuring that no part of the building is deprived of insolation. The formation of the volume of the center stemmed from the need to position the rather sizable structure appropriately on the given terrain. The rectilinear walls of the building underwent several fractures, which bestowed upon the edifice its distinct shape, and resulted in the emergence of two complete masses instead of a single one. This structural configuration, in turn, facilitated the creation of the atrium. One of the important factors is the circular development of the building, which allows any project to go from the conceptual stage to the full physical development. Everything similar is located on the minus one floor, on level 0 there is mainly a study area, with offices and a cafe-bar. On the last floor, the entire space is dedicated to the exhibition space of these and other technologies. In fact, the top two floors are completely open, which creates the perception of space even more.
