Structure
Projects focuses on the issue of migration of the youth from Kalisz and their marginalisation in favour of larger urban areas. The design presented in the third part of the thesis was created taking account of the needs of the target group of young people and current inhabitants of Kalisz.
The idea relies on making the urban area more attractive to live in by using a coherent system of public spaces defined with the use of "Bywalnik" connections. The design part consists of a comprehensive design solution covering the scales of the city as a clear and readable system, the scale of the area as a new center that meets the requirements of young people and the building of a neighbourhood house serving as a center for residents' activity. The project focuses on the space of the city center as the most representative place. Solutions for city understood as a strategy assumes diagnosing the areas of interference that will be the basis for the development of new multi-functional centres. The concept of such an area, consisting in basing the district on the core designated by public spaces, includes functions aimed at meeting the needs of young people, but also at creating a place attractive to all its inhabitants. Building a connection, depending on whether it is based on the existing or newly designed space, takes various forms but has one goal. The main goal is achieved through 4 types of activities, focusing on the aesthetics of the existing space, a coherent system of connecting areas, activities aimed at young recipients and a concept that allows you to choose the form of residence, use of space or lifestyle. The project in the scale of the area and the building uses elements that are often a problem for the city authorities, including historic buildings and post-industrial areas. The project includes adaptations of a historic building for the purpose of creating a center for residents' activity in the form of a neighborhood house as a branch of "Bywalnik". The intervention assumes the use of the available space of the facility for the purpose of introducing new functions, as well as designing new glass forms. The idea is to manage the house by a housing community, created as a result of introducing a new model of housing presented in the concept for the entire area.Solutions in various scales are connected by the essence of creating a space as a place of "being".
