By the river?on the hill——The green design of city hotel

Through the way of architecture and space, this design is a combination of local traditional culture and the local building materials, as a result it is a hotel with local characteristics, expressing the idea of people, city, nature, and culture at the border of the city.

Blending in the natural environment around the site and the local culture harmoniously, this hotel creates a space with charm of countryside and traditional culture. Inspired by local traditional architecture "drum tower" and the mountains, the building makes use of continuous setback to get more open platforms, widener horizons and more well-arranged forms. Moreover, it can connect with the further river, mountains with the local settlements. Spacious balconies not only provide the possibility of close contact with sunshine and landscapes, but also enrich the relationship of light and shadow. As for the description of space details and interior decoration, traditional building materials such as bamboo and stone are widely used in order to integrate local cultural images into the buildings. Combined with the local plants and water, the courtyard landscapes show the conception of local characteristics and Chinese traditional garden. What's more, under the influence of the designs of tea garden and paths, the local traditional folk life is presented in the building, such as tea picking, planting and other traditional local life, which enriches the expression function of the space and form the experience in space with a sense of place. When it comes to the technology, the design considers the professional requirements of the structure, water supply, electricity and air conditioner systems. In the view of special functional requirements ( the spa pool on balcony), the detailed design and coordination have been made further improvement on the structural features of the building, which makes the hotel not only have the cultural characteristics but also higher feasibility and economical efficiency. Through the building space, this design will remodel the boundary between the city and nature on the two sides, further exploring the multi-dimensional relationship among architecture, nature, environment and culture.
