“Between Plans” means the potential that the place holds, justifying the opportunity for revitalization, through the rehabilitation of the urban composition. Then, an attempt is made to enhance the nautical memory and identity, and its relationship with a regenerated natural heritage, in the privilege of the relations within the territory.
As a method of approaching the resolution of the issues raised, it is understood the primordial need to restructure the only existing access route and the design of new methods of access to Fonte da Telha, imposed by the high demand for the intervention area during the bathing season, which results in an overload of the landscape by the car and successive traffic jams. Once the accessities are resolved, it is understood the need for restructuring and rehabilitation of the urban fabric of the intervention area, due to the illegal genesis inherent in its evolution, aiming at the interconnection of spaces and functions in the place, along with the treatment and consolidation of the image of a sea front degraded by the non-regulated action of man on the territory. Having determined the linear framing of the intervention area and the intimate relationship with the natural structure that surrounds it, an urban fabric is developed based on premises found in the design of the structural systems of plant organs, interpreting an analogy with the leaf, in which one observes a main skeleton – the central vein – complemented by the bifurcation of secondary veins, formalizing a structural role of physical, organizational and functional support to the basic growth needs of a larger system, in this case the plant. In this sense, an urban fabric is developed that expands from an existing dirt road along the entire length of the intervention area, Avenida 1 de Maio, which is the central rib of the urban layout, the starting point to the organizational design of interconnections in place. The avenue was then redesigned, acquiring the character of an adjacent promenade that runs through the territory, incorporating diffusion situations with the streets and accesses to the east, and access to the beaches to the west.
