The project questions the notion of anchoring. A sociological anchorage in a site where landmarks disappear and the only ones that remain expose residents to a worrying risk. The project tries to reveal a long and continuous time of the constitution of the territory. It questions the memory of the place to define a place of memory.
I wondered about the anchoring notion from the former shipyard, which presents an umpteenth bank slate to exploit. How to allow a temporary extraction to reveal the roots of the site, to testify a poetic of presence and absence. A funeral parlour project will reveal a temporal and sociological relationship of the territory by questioning both individual and collective notions. It will reveal a long and continuous time of the constitution of the territory.\nThe project is divided into different spaces necessary for several significant anchorages to the site, which punctually highlight the maritime memory of the place always in activity. The funerarium reveals time in the heart of the matter, so the implementation must be significant. The structural choices are significant too. The need to build below the sea level leads to making structural choices in accordance with the maritime memory of the space. A work on the thresholds is realized to guarantee the intimacy of the mourning. In the reclusive crematorium, the time of waiting is revealed by the modulations of light on matter. It is also symbolically a place of transition to an afterlife.\nThe third space of the project takes the shape of an island dedicated to individual memory. An isolated, which allows you to get rid of a part of your mourning. An island colombarium evokes the poetry of the ship and offers a hollow space conducive to meditation. Based on the tradition of maritime ex-voto, the project offers a museum appropriate to the thickness of the walls. Walls inhabited by the memory of the men who live and die together on this territory. In conclusion, the project offers a public space on the upside, respecting the distance necessary to the cohabitation of various programs which reconciles the spaces of life and death. The monumental language developed in the project leads to express the durability of an anchorage, without being another suffered construction in the landscape.
