This design transforms two foundation pits of destroyed cooling towers into an underground bath. Bathing in rolling barrels with snow overhead,people admire the grandness of industrial age and experience the special space,structure and atomosphere,learning this heavy history and think about their future life.
The design consists of huge concrete tubes embedded in the ground ,which is a shell structure. Due to the need for more space, the hyperbolic shape imitating the cooling tower was reduced at the upper part into a thin pillar. These barrels penetrate up and down to meet the lighting and exchange of heat. On the ground level, a continuous plaza of snow is formed to provide space for large flow of people.And underground, barrels forms a continuous bath. Heat emerges from the ground like chimneys that has been built up in the industrial age. The two-story stencil flooring is suspended and is separated from the main concrete structure. The furniture is also suspended by lightweight steel plates to make the concrete tube more grand and complete in shape.
