The program deals with the relationship between structure and space in order to unite studio space and apartment to a structural system, so that the building can be not only independent but also have different kinds of atmosphere studio for artist.
The Artist-House is a place where the artist lives and works. The Artist-House is designed to provide 24 fellows from different artistic disciplines, such as painter, movie director, photographer, architecture, poetry, music, graphic and sculpture, a temporary living and working environment for the advancement of their artistic expression and entertainment. Live and work achieve a synergetic potential in the Künstlerhaus. It can be seen as the unity of art and life and was staged in history of art and architecture as described as manifest and self-expression of the artist. \nFor this Project an important basic concept represents the structural and spatial separation of the workplace and home. The artist works with a sloping roof and lives in an intimate space between the roof structure. Each artist is provide with a studio and a lounge area, which are connected by a spiral staircase. Because of the continuously sloping roof and the different division in each floor, there is a difference of the shape, size and orientation of the studios. Sidelight and skylight can meet the requirement of each kind of artist for light at the same time. The roof trusses are arranged in one direction in the lower part of building and rotate by 90 ° from the 5th floor, so that the shading of the neighboring building has no negative effect on the quality of light for the lower studios.
