Utopias are a legitimate medium to look for the future. My master-thesis reflects a personal journey of a search for archetypal forms of collective housing units and its analogue in an architectural construction. A following model reveals island-like structures that manifest itself in the western metropolis as houses for the transitory living.
The House..\n1. ..is a Transit: A place born of the speed and volatility of a moving society.\n2. ..as perceptive apparatus: Counter placements for new and unfamiliar assessments of well-known open space situations.\n3. ..out of Wood: Especially suitable is the skeleton construction, which can respond flexibly to changes in use with its open structure.\n4. ..needs the Ground Level: Not only its inhabitants, but also neighbors should come into action with the system.\n5. ..with shared mobility: Since the units with their dynamic residents are located in heavily frequented locations, the most direct connection to transportation must be assumed.\n6. ..without barriers: This guarantees accessibility for elderly and people with disabilities. In addition, internal care could be well organized. The concept of a nursing home should be counteracted.\n7. ..a high House: So high that the building rises as a landmark, but so deep that the contact with the public below does not break off\n8. ..with Belvedere: A free attic offers the opportunity to sharpen the perception of its surroundings and to establish a connection to the nearest structure. A dialogue occurs.\n9. ..produces: Urban factories, networked production, manufacturing laboratories, small factories, in short, basic components that are summarized under the idea of a future industry on a digital and urban level.\n10. ..is filled with strong furniture: Since most rooms can be used by all residents, it makes ecological sense to use solid furniture made of robust materials. This can be built-in furniture but also flexible interior.\n11. ..got „space of no use“: A space without program, without property, without rules, without function, without control. A room negotiated by the residents. A space of appropriation.\n12. ..eats in the open kitchen: Cooking and eating together is often an impulse for communication and exchange. Individual dishes are guaranteed due to cultural diversity in the house.\n13. ..leaves a ruin: With take down the flexible and lightweight structure, an element of the house remains reminiscent for a local community. The network is preserved.
