The dissertation carries out an approach to efficient bioclimatic solutions in architecture for low energy consumption at the Community and Interpretive Center in Marvila. By applying these solutions, you can configure concepts to achieve low energy consumption, reduce CO2 emissions and a passive architecture with the environment involved.
The entire project was designed with a rigorous metric of five by five meters inside and outside, where longitudinal structural beams run that are visible to the naked eye, thus providing a certain constructive rationality to the building. This metric allowed to distribute the functional areas, according to their structure. In order to make access to the upper part possible, four “boxes” were designed, belonging to the structure, which extend from the ground level to the building's roof slab. These “boxes” are intended to carry all files, storage, technical areas, sanitary facilities and vertical access. The main entrance is made between the two “boxes” on the left located next to the open space, where several skylights can be seen as a focus of light, in order to highlight its importance. On the ground floor there is the community part, organized through a majestic square with community support shops, two water mirrors strategically placed to cool the building, a free space in the center of the building with a capacity for five hundred people to concerts, dance and theater shows, film screenings and events. The first floor is constituted, in its center, by a free span, flanked by the four “boxes”, whose sides were used as a mezzanine to serve as a conducting wire between floors. The circulation in this space is made by the four sides of the mezzanine that gives dynamics to the floor and also allows to watch the events from the floor below. The main staircase ends up highlighting a large space, overlooking a well of light created for ventilation and natural light, designed to be a living area and a common thread for the rest of the spaces, such as study rooms, workshops and exposure. On the opposite side, between the two homologous “boxes”, we observe a room for events, the remaining space being replicated to the space on the left. The exhibition areas are located continuously around the building so as not to disturb the study and workshop rooms.
