Architectures on the Waterfront

A dive into the archive of the collection of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Awards that shows those architectures made near the water.
Port spaces constitute one of the territories where the transformation of the contemporary European city has shown with more intensity. As a result of the collaboration with Arquitectes per l’Arquitectura, a selection of 68 works from the EUmies Awards archive tells us with images, audiovisuals and models the particular stories of these architectures that build new spaces for the city’s relationship with water.
The panorama that the successive editions of the Prize defines proposes the game of multiple readings and, just as it was done with publications such as ATLAS or exhibitions such as Spanish Architectures, Chronicle from Europe, each filter that is applied generates a new look, a piece of new information. This is now the architecture of European waterfronts.
The exhibition has been cocurated with geographer Francesc Muñoz, director of the Urbanization Observatory (UAB), and it also includes a virtual visit and a catalogue.
