The all project tries to bring in a new aura in a town developed in the 70s. The building plays with snow, compacting and piling it in specific places, pre-defined by the shape of roof and facades, ice is part of the game and stalactites the ornament of the building.

The Auditorium is meant to be part of Lugo´s urban layout, building up a slender and light vernacular glass gallery towards the avenue and introducing the natural topography inside. The terraces of both music halls are placed naturally on the slope with large openings towards the landscape, integrating natural light and views towards the green outside.

The main idea of the project was based in two elements: the existing walls, at different levels, and the platforms created by those walls. The elevations of the two house levels are broken lines that were created as continuation of the existing site walls. The topography helps to dissimulate the house.

A thorough renovation and a contemporary extension bring back the grandeur to Antwerp’s Royal Museum of Fine Arts. A new autonomous museum rises within the four original patios of the 19th-century neoclassical landmark invisible from the outside. These contrasting yet dialoguing spaces coexist as two different worlds in one building.

The design of the built volume, the choice of building method, the selection of materials elevates the space from its physical anchor. The intention to make interior light, a material that is harder than concrete started to emerge with a long process.
