In 2012 the Municipality of Lisbon, given the state of degradation of the object, launched an architectural competition aimed at its recovery, without losing, however, the atmosphere of the 19th century in presence.

The project consists in the renovation of a 120 spm apartment with a 50 sqm patio in the heart of Gracia’s district. The flat was fragmented into small rooms connected by dark corridors with very low relation with the exterior spaces. The consecutive rehabilitations had left a sedimentation of layers that were hiding the potential of the existing space.

In the middle of the Baltic Sea lies an eastern outpost of Denmark: the rocky island of Bornholm. Here, on the northern tip of the island, we find the largest castle ruin in Northern Europe, the 12th century structure Hammershus. Next to is, nestled in to the landscape, is the new visitor centre, inaugurated in the spring of 2018.

The family villa is built just a few hundred meters away from the Baltic sea shore, surrounded by water, sand and pine forests. Views, experiences and sounds of the surrounding nature accompany one’s approach to the villa and fill the interior with its calm presence. Local exterior and interior materials blend the building to the natural Baltic seaside.

The 17 storey silo has been transformed from a grain container into THE SILO, consisting of private housing and public functions. The spatial variation within the original silo is immense due to the storing of grain, creating space for 38 unique apartments.
