The Advisory Committee is formed by the main European architecture museums and institutions. All topics related to the functioning of the Prize, the experts, the jury members and the relationship with the European Commission are discussed together.

The Architekturzentrum Wien in the MuseumsQuartier is the Austrian museum of architecture. It shows, discusses and researches the ways in which architecture and urban development influence and shape the daily life of each one of us.
Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine, Paris Francis Rambert, director
Museum of architecture and monumental sculpture located in the Palais de Chaillot (Trocadéro), in Paris. Its permanent collection is also known as Musée des Monuments Français (Museum of French Monuments). It was established in 1879 by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc. The museum was renovated in 2007 and covers 9,000 square meters of gallery space.
CIVA, Brussels Nikolaus Hirsch, artistic director
This museum, library, archive and publisher emphasizes on Belgian architecture from mid-19th to the 21st century. Created in 2016 at the initiative of the Brussels-Capital Region, CIVA brings together within a single structure the resources, knowledge and know-how of several cultural associations active in Brussels in the fields of architecture, town planning, landscape and the study of ecosystems.
Danish Architecture Centre, Copenhagen Kent Martinussen, CEO
Danish Architecture Center (DAC) is an international cultural attraction for everyone who wants to experience and understand how architecture and design create the framework for our lives. We live in the heart of Copenhagen by the inner harbor in the spectacular building BLOX and are part of Copenhagen’s Cultural Quarter.
DESSA Gallery, Ljubljana Maja Ivanic, director
DESSA gallery is the first Slovene architectural gallery, founded in 1987. Since then it presents and encourages high quality architecture, innovative design, socially oriented projects, responsible architects, creative designers, engaged investors and long-term visions. We strongly belive burning problems of our time cannot be solved without the architectural profession.
Fundació Mies van der Rohe, Barcelona Anna Ramos, director
Besides conserving and disseminating knowledge about the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, the Fundació today also fosters debate on and awareness of themes related to contemporary architecture and urban planning, as well as encouraging studies on the work of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Lilly Reich and on the Modern Movement. In accordance with these objectives, the Fundació organises awards, congresses, conferences, exhibitions, workshops and installations.
German Architecture Museum, Frankfurt Peter Cachola Schmal, director
Housed in an 18th-century building, the interior was re-designed by Oswald Mathias Ungers in 1984 as a set of “elemental Platonic buildings within elemental Platonic buildings”. It houses a permanent exhibition entitled “From Ancient Huts to Skyscrapers” which displays the history of architectural development in Germany. The museum organises several temporary exhibitions every year, as well as conferences, symposia and lectures. It has a collection of ca. 180,000 architectural drawings and 600 models.
Hungarian Contemporary Architecture Centre, Budapest Samu Szemerey, co-founder and content director
Independent professional organisation founded in 2006 with the aim of opening new perspectives in architectural and urban thinking in Hungary. The objective of the institution is to initiate dialogue about architecture, the city and its culture both within the profession and beyond, and to operate an independent and open centre that promotes architectural education, awareness and innovation among multidisciplinary professionals and the general public.
Museum of Architecture and Design, Ljubljana Maja Vardjan, director
Founded in 1972 as the Architectural Museum Ljubljana, thus making it one of Europe’s oldest museums of architecture and design, MAO is today an example of the transformation of a museum into a dynamic institution with new functionalities. MAO is the caretaker and promotor of the world’s most comprehensive collection of Slovenian architectural and design heritage. MAO brings together curators, editors, and producers who take great care in collecting national heritage and designing contemporary programmes.
Museum of Architecture, Wroclaw Michał Duda, director
The only museum institution in Poland dedicated entirely to the history of architecture and contemporary architecture. It carries out programs and events for architects, historians and the general public and prepares exhibitions on architecture, applied art, painting and graphics. The museum cooperates with the city authorities in protecting and revitalizing the architectural heritage of Wroclaw.
Museum of Estonian Architecture, Tallinn Karen Jagodin, director
The Museum of Estonian Architecture has a permanent exhibition of the models of the city, providing an overview of Estonian architecture in the 20th century. In order to supplement the exhibition, the museum has ordered new models and brought out old ones from its storage from time to time, keeping the exhibition fresh.
Museum of Finnish Architecture, Helsinki Jenni Reuter, director
The Museum of Finnish Architecture is a national special museum. The museum maintains a collection of Finnish architecture and serves as a source of expert knowledge for everyone interested in architecture and the built environment.
National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Oslo Martin Braathen, senior curator
The National Museum holds, conserves, exhibits and promotes public knowledge about Norway’s largest collections of art, architecture and design.
RIBA, London Carmen Mateu, head of Awards
Professional body for architects primarily in the United Kingdom, but also internationally, founded for the advancement of architecture under its royal charter granted in 1837, three supplemental charters and a new charter granted in 1971. The institute administers some of the oldest architectural awards in the world, including President’s Medals and the Royal Gold Medal, plus the Stirling Prize. It also manages RIBA Competitions which organises architectural and other design-related competitions.
The Berlage, Delft Salomon Frausto, director of Studies
The Berlage Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture and Urban Design, part of the Delft University Technology’s Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, educates architects in a highly collaborative and experimental setting, characterized by independent study with guidance and input from and exchange with leading and emerging designers and scholars. Founded in 1990 as the Berlage Institute, it offers an accredited, three-semester, English-language post-master program, along with a rich and diverse public program of lectures, exhibitions, and conversations.
Triennale di Milano, Milan Lorenza Baroncelli, director
Design and art museum in the Parco Sempione in Milan, in Lombardy in northern Italy. It is housed in the Palazzo dell’Arte, which was designed by Giovanni Muzio and built between 1931 and 1933; construction was financed by Antonio Bernocchi and his brothers Andrea and Michele.
